Francesca Wine Pumps

Why buy a Francesca wine pump?

1. Proven success. In the past ten years, about 1,500 Francesca pumps have been sold worldwide. They are used in wineries in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay and the United States.

2. Extremely gentle on wine. Francesca operates at 2.7 to 3 bars and 30-290RPM when pumping grapes, must and wine, and 0.9 bars when barrel filling and topping off. Acceleration to maximum pumping capacity takes about 10 seconds, deceleration takes about 5 seconds. Francesca can do the work of several conventional pumps that are bought for specific tasks like pumping grapes and must, or pumping wine, or barrel work. Francesca pumps grapes without breaking the skins, so no lees are formed in the process.

3. Virtually indestructible. Francesca can pump grapes, must and wine, and can handle ingested foreign particles like stalks or wood chips, which can stall or break other pumps. It is simple and inexpensive to change the rubber rotors, even if something like a nail was ingested, which would break any other pump.

4. Practically maintenance-free. The design of Francesca allows for easy access to the only parts in contact with the wine, namely the rotating piston and the chamber. There is no other pump in the market where you can simply open the cover to clean or inspect.

5. It can run dry. This allows the use of the timed liquid sensor to clear hoses at the conclusion of pumping. Francesca can run dry for over a minute at maximum pumping capacity. Francesca is also self-priming.

6. Wireless remote control. Francesca is the only pump in the market with a factory installed wireless remote feature, allowing speed and direction changes from up to 80 meters away.

7. A rubber membrane isolates the wine from oxygen exposure. Francesca is the only pump in the market that uses a rubber membrane to completely isolate the wine from oxygen risk. When priming the wine chamber, wine can be bled out from the bleed valve, so there is visual evidence that all the air is gone from the chamber and there is no risk of oxygenation. This same bleed valve can be used to inject oxygen during fermentation.

8. Sterilization. Francesca can be sterilized with hot water at 110°C, the most effective disinfecting possible.
